Add students from the Students tab. A display name is all we need — contact details and notes can come later.
Reading a student's page
- Now — what's next, recent submissions, anything you haven't replied to
- Assignments — everything you've set them, plus tests
- Record — goals, sticking points, history
- Settings — display name, subject, invitation, archiving
Import the roster you already have
From the import screen in the Students tab you can drop in an Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file as it is. There's no required format. Whether a column is headed “Name” or “Student”, we read the meaning from what's in it. Shift_JIS CSVs work too.
- 1Pick a file. We work out what kind of table it is — roster, records, assignments — and what each column means.
- 2You always get a review screen before anything is imported. Fix any column we read wrong.
- 3Confirm, and the students are added. A notes column becomes their first record.
We only match students on an exact name
Similar names are never merged. “J. Smith” and “Jane Smith” come in as two people. Mixing one student's records into another's is the worst thing an import can do, so we don't guess.
When you've finished teaching someone
Archive them from their settings. They drop off the list, but every record, assignment and submission stays and stays readable. Archived students don't count towards your bill.
